Beyond
Compliance
The Governance of ICT Projects
The massive investment in information technology and systems overhauls driven by the Year 2000 problem flowed into a dramatic reduction in IT spend through the first five years of this decade. But business conditions evolve, and companies are once again ramping up their IT investment budgets.
Contemporary information systems are integral to business process. Problems with projects and operational systems can have catastrophic consequences for organisations. And as the first generation of IT specialists moves into retirement, there is the added risk that project sponsors and managers may not spot the signs of trouble early enough.
But success in IT initiatives is not merely a concern for project managers and technology specialists. With business success dependent on IT project success, it makes sense that the top managers and directors must take more than a passing interest in what is being done, and whether it will produce results.
Research conducted by Dr Raymond Young at Macquarie Graduate School of Management demonstrates that top management and board support (which we might also refer to as active engagement) is imperative in the success of an IT initiative. Dr Young’s research and conclusions are based on real life experience of Australian businesses.
In an effort to promote higher rates of success in IT investment, Macquarie University has arranged this half day conference, specifically for company directors, top level managers and project sponsors. The initial session will be conducted at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management in Sydney on Saturday afternoon, September 24th.
Infonomics is proud to be associated with “Beyond Compliance – the Governance of ICT Projects”. We believe that it will be of significant interest and value to our friends and customers, and extend our invitation to you to peruse the brochure, and register to join us in Sydney on September 24th.
We hope that, if demand and success warrant, Macquarie University will see fit to run additional conferences in other major business centres. If you are unable to participate in Sydney, but would consider participating in a local event, please contact us.
Thanks again for your time.
