Specialising in IT Governance
Seminar and Workshop Program
Board and (frequently) senior executive level engagement in IT Governance presents new challenges for the directors and those who advise them.
How can they understand (or present) the IT agenda?
How can they appreciate (or reveal) the company’s true IT situation?
What should they expect to see?
Should there be independent inspection of IT as there is for finance, OHS and other important compliance matters?
What questions can they ask without knowing the intimate detail of technology?
How will understanding the information technology situation give them new insight to the business in general?
IT Governance - The Business and Boardroom Perspective tackles these challenges head-on. The seminar and workshop are designed and delivered by veterans who understand, advise and practice as directors. The material and content is jargon-free. Numerous real-life examples are explored to enhance understanding of the factors that influence risk and outcomes. Extensive group discussion offers opportunity to increase understanding, share personal experience and even to start solving problems.
If you are an owner, director or senior executive of any organisation that depends on computers, you need to attend this seminar.

What does an aeroplane running out of fuel have to do with IT Governance?
The IT Governance Seminar explores the fascinating tale of Air Canada Flight 143 on July 23, 1983. Known throughout commercial aviation as “The Gimli Glider”, this near-new Boeing 767 suffered from a compounding series of organisational and individual errors in judgement and process that led to its mid-flight disaster. But when all aboard seemed doomed, a hero emerged, with the right skills and knowledge to put the aircraft safely on the ground, and back in service only a few weeks later.
Expert assessment of major IT failures in every sector and many countries have identified organisational and individual errors in judgement and process, and heroes, that bear remarkable similarity to what happened with The Gimli Glider. There are few more effective case studies from which leaders can learn about asking questions without detailed knowledge of the internals.
